The Pink Patch Project is an effort by law enforcement agencies nationwide to raise awareness and funds for breast cancer research (https://pinkpatchproject.com/). The Pink Patch Project was started by the Irwindale Police Department in 2015 and the Winters Police Department has participated since October 2017.
The Winters Police Department Pink Patch is available to the public for $10.00 each and all proceeds go to the UC Davis Clinical Breast Cancer Program at the UC Davis Comprehensive Cancer Center. Winters PD has raised and donated over $3,500 since the start of this program.
Starting April 2, 2022, “World Autism Awareness Day 2022,” the Winters Police Department is pleased to announce a limited run of our new autism awareness “Blue Patch” will be offered for sale to the public in support of National Autism Awareness Month. The Winters Police Department Autism Awareness Blue Patch may also be worn by Winters Police Officers throughout April, “Autism Awareness Month.”
The patch was designed working collaboratively with the Sacramento Autistic Spectrum and Special Needs Alliance (SASSNA) and is intended to heighten public awareness about autism. The Blue Patch Project is intended to stimulate conversation with the community and to encourage public awareness about autism. The color blue was used as it is associated with a calm feeling and acceptance in an otherwise loud and busy world for people on the spectrum and the infinity symbol inspires thoughts of inclusivity for people on the spectrum.
The Winters Police Department Blue Patch will be available to the public for $10.00 each and all proceeds will be donated the Sacramento Autistic Spectrum and Special Needs Alliance (SASSNA), which offers comprehensive services needed to assist families with mentally diverse children.
