About the Winters Field Training Officer (FTO) Program

The Winters Police Department Field Training Program (FTP) is a living document that encompasses specific categories of learning for Officers in Training. The training program supplements the training Officers receive in a police academy, in addition to receiving mandated training for the duration of their employment. Once an Officer completes the FTP they are then subject to a year of probation. The program is reviewed by the California Police Officer Standards and Training (POST) organization on a regular basis.
